Mushrooms Can Save the World

The mushroom guru of our time Paul Stamets talks about how mushrooms can save the Earth. His research is quite remarkable, and the results even more astounding. He details them in his latest book, Mycelium Running.

In this video clip, he talks about six very significant mushroom applications.

  • Mushrooms sequester carbon dioxide.
  • Mushrooms can literally eat up oil spill-contaminated dirt and decontaminate farm waste before it reaches our water supply.
  • A mushroom extract has the most potent chemical against smallpox, and another against the flu virus.
  • Mushrooms can save lumber from termites, carpenter ants, and other such pests, PERMANENTLY, so chemical sprays will no longer be necessary.
  • Mushrooms can help developing nations use very cheap resources for food.
  • Mushrooms produces ethanol more efficiently than from corn.
If the video doesn't tell you enough, you can buy his book. I have a copy and really enjoyed reading it.

Welcome to the Central PA Mushroom Club Blog

We would like to welcome you to the Central Pennsylvania Mushroom Club blog. It has been just a week since the club's second organizing committee meeting and it appears that much progress has been made. Our official website is in the developmental stage, our constitution and bylaws are being prepared, and a concerted effort has been made to reach out to other mushroom enthusiasts in the central regions of PA. Please continue to visit this blog for updates on the club website and future events.
